Our Covenant Cake

Our Wednesday night program, Covenant Kids, had a cake decorating contest last week. We were supposed to represent our theme: Our Covenant-Keeping God. Well, I immediately thought of the Abrahamic Covenant where God gives Abraham the promise of the land in Genesis. Thus our cake. Not too pretty, but we felt it was appropriate. In case you can't see, we had a "flaming torch and a smoking fire pot" in the middle of the path.

It was Eric's idea to add the red food coloring....

He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” And he brought him all these, cut them in half, and laid each half over against each other.

...When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land.”

Genesis 15:9-10, 17-18

Our First Fun Friday of the New School Year

Since we are studying the Middle Ages this year, our first fun Friday was making stained glass windows like the beautiful windows in churches of this time period. All 4 kids made a window and we have them place in our real windows all over the house.

Catching Up

So, I stopped blogging because life was so busy, but I missed it. I missed having a place to record all those fleeting moments of a young family. So, I'm back. To catch up since last Christmas - can you believe it - we have sold a house, bought a new house, moved to Peachtree City, done house projects at every free moment and are still making this new house a home. We went back to homeschooling after Christmas and really enjoyed it. I was still struggling with depression and anxiety at the beginning of the year, so we just gutted it out. However, God is faithful and He healed me. By spring time I was anxiety and depression free - Praise God. He taught me many lessons through it all and is still teaching me. I am learning to rest in His plan for me, to not lean on my own understanding but in all my ways acknowledge Him.

I hope this blog will be a place that I can post pictures and thoughts about our everyday, so we can remember. It passes quickly.
